WHAT IS BOEMBOE TEMPEH
HOW DOES IT TASTE?
"Its texture reminds me of falafel and the taste is almost like chicken, taking on any flavour you try to infuse into it." - Margaret, Chef
Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian fermented soybean product.
We make a Non-GMO Soybean, Chickpea and Blackbean Tempeh.
It's naturally gluten-free and vegan.
HEALTH BENEFITS
With zero cholesterol, it boasts the same quantity and quality of protein as chicken.
It has a nutty flavour and it is one of the best vegetarian B12 sources.
The fermentation allows easier digestion (eliminating the substance causing gas and indigestion). Tempeh is also high in calcium, essential fatty acids and fibre.
As a non-vegan the Soybean is by far my favourite, it's got a mild cultured taste and I can add it to any meal for texture and an extra kick of protein." - Dr. JJA Vercueil
" I think meat-free Mondays has found a more wholesome and cost-effective protein option." - Jan from Sasfin
" To meat-eaters I explain: Tempeh tastes like placing mushrooms and chicken into a blender. When I explain to vegans I can go into more depth about how it is fermented and its health qualities - I usually never have to tell them how delicious it is because they know!" - Malan Bartleman
